A Message from the Office of the Superintendent
Dear Augusta School Department Parents,
To maintain continuity of the school year and proactively limit the need for make-up days in June, we have decided to implement Remote School Days. When the Superintendent anticipates a potential "snow/storm day," he may designate it as a "Remote School Day" instead. The implementation will vary by grade level, as detailed below.
Notification: The decision to implement a Remote School Day will be made by 1:00 PM the prior day via our district website, social media, and through our alert system (phone and text).
Lunch: Shelf-stable meals will be offered to all students who choose to take one home.
Attendance: A student’s attendance for a Remote School Day will be taken upon completion of school work. Students have up to 3 days to complete assignments if unable to finish on the Remote School Day (reasons may include but are not limited to lack of power or no access to internet). After 3 days, incomplete work will result in an absence for the Remote Snow Day.
Access and Support: All teachers will have office hours between 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM for questions and support. They are available via email, which are all listed on the respective school websites, or on our mobile app, under “Staff”.
Families or teachers without power or internet access will not be penalized; these situations will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Learning will be conducted through a paper packet called "Remote Roadmap."
It will include assignments in core subjects (reading, writing, mathematics, etc.) and specials (music, art, and PE).
Parents may be asked to sign off on "Remote Roadmaps" and return to the classroom teacher.
Prior to the Remote School Day, those students who require interventions or modified assignments will be pre-arranged on a case-by-case basis.

"Remote Roadmap" assignments will be available on Google Classroom by 8:00 AM.
Students should bring their Chromebook and charger home when a Remote School Day is announced. Please encourage your child to plug in and charge their computer the night before.
Prior to the Remote School Day, those students who require interventions or modified assignments will be pre-arranged on a case-by-case basis.
