Dear Augusta Schools Community,
As a proud Augusta native, I'm thrilled to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. Having grown up on these very streets and attended our local schools, I'm deeply committed to nurturing the potential of every student in our district. This year we are focused on the theme: “Making School Matter.”
Our four key priorities are:
Wellness and Safety of Students and Staff
Allocation of Resources to Increase Student and Staff Learning and Performance
Community - Communication and Relationships
Comprehensive Educational Planning: We're examining and reworking our programs to better meet student needs.

Research consistently shows that regular attendance is crucial for academic success. Students who attend school regularly are 3.5 times more likely to read at grade level (Attendance Works, 2020). Let's work together to ensure every child is present and ready to learn.
Safe transportation is equally vital. Positive bus behavior creates a secure environment and sets the tone for a productive day. We're implementing a new positive reinforcement program to encourage exemplary conduct on our buses. Please communicate the importance of proper bus behavior with your children, and remember to “stop” when those red lights are on!
Augusta's schools have always been the heart of our community. Together, we'll build on our rich history and shape an even brighter future for our children.
Here's to a year of growth, discovery, and achievement!
Michael E. Tracy Jr.
