Hello to the amazing families of Cony,
Choices Matter Assembly Tuesday, April 1st
We are doing an assembly during Period 4 on Tuesday, April 1st called Choices Matter. It is a program hosted by the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety. The presentation is about driving safely. This is for Grades 11 and 12 and some grade 10 students.
End of the Quarter-April 4
The end of Quarter 3 is Friday, April 4th. Quarter 4 will begin on Monday, April 5th. Report cards will go out once we finalize all of the grades.
Aspirations Day-Tuesday, April 8th
We are hosting Aspirations Day on Tuesday, April 8th. Every grade level is involved in some sort of post secondary planning activities. The activities are possible through a MELMAC grant. We are so excited to help your students start to plan for high school and after graduation from Cony.
Testing
We are coming up on Spring Testing. We have the NWEAs for Grades 7, 8, 9, and 10. We have the Science testing for Grades 8 and 11. We have our AP Testing and SAT Testing.
Our first test is for Grade 11 Science testing scheduled for Tuesday, April 15th. Juniors will take this test by homeroom in their assigned area.
The NWEAs and Grade 8 Science is happening in May.
Day of Caring for Middle and High School
Every year we partner with the United Way to participate in a Day of Caring. This is scheduled for April 30th for the High School and May 7th for the Middle School. During this day, student volunteer with their homeroom teachers to help make a difference in our community.
Consistent Attendance Leads to Student Success!
Regular attendance is key to staying on track academically and preparing for the future. In middle and high school, each day of learning builds on the last, and missing even a few classes can make it difficult to keep up with coursework. Attendance impacts grades, participation, and readiness for college, careers, and beyond.
As we look toward the last few months of the school year, we want to encourage all of our students to be an active student by being at school everyday. Families play a crucial role in helping students establish responsible habits—arriving on time, staying engaged, and making school a priority. Let’s work together to build a strong culture of attendance, because every day in class makes a difference!
End of the School Year
The end of the school year is right around the corner. Here are some important dates for our 8th graders and 12th graders who are both making BIG transitions.
8th Grade Promotion is scheduled for Thursday, June 12th with a dance following the ceremony sponsored by the Middle School Parent Group and Cony Admin. Because of the limited space in the auditorium, each student will get 5 tickets. We will send the tickets out later in the school year. If you don't need all of the tickets, be sure to give them back. If you need more than 5 tickets, we will try to provide additional tickets from those who don't need all 5 tickets. Please know that we plan to LiveStream the event as well. We will send out a more detailed letter soon.
12th grade Graduation is scheduled for Sunday, June 15th at 4:00pm at the Augusta Civic Center. A group of parents have put together an amazing Project Graduation event after graduation for Cony graduates. We are hosting Class Day on Friday, June 13th at 2:30 in the Cony auditorium. We will send a more detailed letter soon.
Finally, congratulations to our own Lauri Chambers who was selected among a competitive pool of nominations for the Secretary of the Year Award through the Maine Principal's Association. We are so lucky to work with her everyday.
Happy Spring!

Please have your student sign up in the guidance office, they will need to have you as their parent/guardian sign a release so we can give UMAINE their transcript.
April 4 - Quarter 3 Ends April 7 - Quarter 4 begins
April 8 Aspirations Day
April 9 - Junior SAT School Day Testing
April 16- SENIORS UMA Representative Application Help: A UMA Representative will be coming into guidance from 9:00-12:00 to work with students who have applied or are in the process of applying to UMA. He can help with all the next steps to enroll and answer any questions you may have.
ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Don't forget to meet with your counselor to go over your Course Request Forms for next year!!
MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS:
It is amazing how fast the year has flown. 8th graders are getting closer to the start of high school. They have turned in their course requests and their freshman schedules will be developed in the next few months. If you have any questions about your present 8th graders freshman schedule, contact guidance . 7th graders will choose their language choice for their 8th grade year soon. They will earn their first high school credits upon completion of their language they take during their 8th grade year.
Please encourage your child to eat breakfast. Breakfast replenishes glucose stores in the body, providing energy for the day. Eating breakfast helps prevent blood sugar drops, which can lead to fatigue, irritability, stomach pain and nausea.
We've been seeing a lot of students with flu like systems. As a reminder: It is our expectation that a student will be FEVER FREE for 24 HOURS prior to returning to school (without the use of fever reducing medicine). We also ask that the student’s symptoms (runny nose, cough, sore throat, etc.) are improving. These guidelines apply to the common cold, influenza, COVID or any other contagion. Stay healthy!
Vision screening
The health center is still doing vision screening for our 7th and 9th graders! Reports of screenings that need follow up by an eye doctor will be going out via mail as soon as the screenings are complete. Please keep an eye out for them. If you do not receive a letter in the mail, your student passed their vision screen and there were no worries!
Oral Health Program
Up next in the health center will be our School Oral Health Program in April. Did you know tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease? Oral health problems can affect many aspects of life, including self-confidence, our ability to eat and our ability to communicate. We have a Registered Dental Hygienist who comes to the school and performs oral exams and applies fluoride. Forms were sent home at the beginning of the year to register. If you did not fill out a form and would like one. Please reach out to the health center. More information about the School Oral Health Programcan be found at the link below. As always, stay healthy! https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/population-health/odh/documents/School%20Oral%20Health%20Program%20Handbook.pdf FORMS
