Principal's Report

Hello to the amazing families of Cony,

End of the Quarter-April 3

The end of Quarter 3 is Friday, April 3rd.  Quarter 4 will begin on Monday, April 56h. Report cards will go out once we finalize all of the grades.

Aspirations Day-Thursday, April 9th

We are hosting Aspirations Day on Thursday, April 9th. Every grade level is involved in post secondary planning activities. The activities are possible through a MELMAC grant. We are so excited to help your students start to plan for high school and after graduation from Cony.

Testing

We are coming up on Spring Testing.  We have the NWEAs for Grades 7, 8, 9, and 10.  We have the Science testing for Grades 8 and 11.  We have our AP Testing and SAT Testing.

Our first test is for Grade 11 Science testing scheduled for Tuesday, April 14th. Juniors will take this test by homeroom in their assigned area.  The NWEAs and Grade 8 Science testing is happening in May.

We have a goal to improve our scores from last year.  We are spending time reviewing the content for the testing and strategies for test taking.  Please encourage your student to put their best effort into the testing.

Day of Caring for Middle and High School

Every year we partner with the United Way to participate in a Day of Caring. This is scheduled for April 29h for the High School and May 6th for the Middle School. During this day, student volunteer with their homeroom teachers to help make a difference in our community.

High School Schedule Change for 2026-27

The Augusta School Board voted to change the Cony High School schedule from a 4X4 schedule to a rotating block (red & white day).  We will provide more information through the spring and summer about what this schedule will look like.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Cony.

Consistent Attendance Leads to Student Success!

Regular attendance is key to staying on track academically and preparing for the future. In middle and high school, each day of learning builds on the last, and missing even a few classes can make it difficult to keep up with coursework. Attendance impacts grades, participation, and readiness for college, careers, and beyond.

As we look toward the last few months of the school year, we want to encourage all of our students to be an active student by being at school everyday. Families play a crucial role in helping students establish responsible habits—arriving on time, staying engaged, and making school a priority. Let’s work together to build a strong culture of attendance, because every day in class makes a difference!

End of the School Year

The end of the school year is right around the corner. Here are some important dates for our 8th graders and 12th graders who are both making BIG transitions.

8th Grade Promotion is scheduled for Thursday, June 11th with a dance following the ceremony sponsored by the Middle School Parent Group and Cony Admin. Because of the limited space in the auditorium, each student will get 5 tickets. We will send the tickets out later in the school year. If you don't need all of the tickets, be sure to give them back. If you need more than 5 tickets, we will try to provide additional tickets from those who don't need all 5 tickets. Please know that we plan to LiveStream the event as well. We will send out a more detailed letter soon.

12th grade Graduation is scheduled for Sunday, June 7th at 4:00pm at the Augusta Civic Center. A group of parents have put together an amazing Project Graduation event after graduation for Cony graduates. We are hosting Class Day on Friday, June 5th at 2:30 in the Cony auditorium. We will send a more detailed letter soon.

Communication Strategies with families

Don't forget we contact families in a number of ways.  We post on our augustaschools.org website and we also have Facebook and Instagram accounts.   In addition, we send out emails to our families.  If you are not receiving our emails, please contact us to add your email.  We hope our newsletters also provide information to our students and families.

Congratulations to the students who were selected for the March Students of the Month.  Students are nominated by our staff and selected for their positive contributions to Cony.  We congratulate them on being selected.

Sportsmanship is essential for both middle and high school players and fans because it builds respect, character, and a positive school culture. For athletes, it means playing with integrity, following the rules, and showing respect to teammates, opponents, and officials whether they win or lose. For fans, it means cheering with enthusiasm while also demonstrating respect and self-control. Good sportsmanship helps create an environment where everyone can enjoy the game, learn from competition, and represent their school with pride.  We truly appreciate the fans of Cony Middle and High School and thank you for all of your support!
