Hello to the amazing families of Cony,
June is here and that means lots of celebrations, events and the end of the school year 2025-26!
8th Graders Movers and Shakers
Every year, our 8th graders participate in our Movers and Shakers project. They select an individual or event and do a speech, paper, and project focused on that individual or event. We are having a Movers and Shakers fair on Tuesday, June 3rd from 12:30-1:30 where students showcase their work. We are proud of our 8th graders.
Poetry Contest Winners 2025 Cony Student Poetry Contest winners:
Cony hosts a Poetry Contest every year. We are so proud of the following students who were recognized for their work:
Honorable Mention McKenzie Gay
3rd Prize, Helen Dineen
2nd Prize Nela Parker
1st Prize Penelope Fyfe
6th Grade Transition
To transition our 6th graders into 7th graders, we are hosting a 6th grade Step Up Day on Tuesday, June 3rd. 6th graders will visit Cony to get a tour, eat lunch, see lockers, learn about extracurriculars, hear from our Music Department and learn about transitioning to Cony. We are hosting an evening presentation for 6th grade parents on Wednesday, June 5th at 6:00pm.
End of the School Year
The end of the school year is right around the corner. Here are some important dates for our 8th graders and 12th graders who are both making BIG transitions.
8th Grade Promotion
8th Grade Promotion is scheduled for Thursday, June 12th at 6:30pm with a dance following the ceremony sponsored by the Middle School Parent Group and Cony Admin.
Because of the limited space in the auditorium, each 8th grade student will get 5 tickets. We sent the tickets out to primary parents/guardians through the mail. If you don't need all of the tickets, be sure to send them back. If you need more than 5 tickets, we will try to provide additional tickets from those who don't need all 5 tickets. Please know that we plan to LiveStream the event as well. Please contact Lauri Chambers (lauri.chambers@augustaschools.org) regarding ticket needs. We will do this on a first-come, first served basis.
After the promotion ceremony, the Cony Middle School Parent Group and the Cony Administration are hosting a dance for the 8th graders who promoted. The dance will happen at Cony right after the ceremony. There will be snacks and food for the students.
8th graders will be going on their class trip on Friday, June 6th. On June 12th, 8th graders will be dismissed early. Parents/Guardians must pick them up.
Senior Events
Our seniors will end their in class days on June 6th. June 9-12 will be marching practices. All seniors must participate in marching practices.
We are hosting Class Day on Friday, June 13th at 2:30 in the Cony auditorium. The Project Graduation committee is sponsoring a Car Parade after Class day.
Cony Graduation is scheduled for Sunday, June 15th at 4:00pm at the Augusta Civic Center (seniors need to be there by 3:30).
A group of parents have put together an amazing Project Graduation event after graduation for Cony graduates. Cony graduating seniors are invited to celebrate with their classmates from 8:00-4:00am at Cony on the night of graduation. GREAT job to the parents who have volunteered their time for this celebration.
With the end of the year rapidly approaching, we would like to thank you and your student for an awesome year at Cony Middle and High School. We look forward to next year with our students. Our sincere congratulations and good luck to the senior class of 2025!
The school calendar for 2025-26 can be found on our augustaschools.org website. Grades 7 and 9 are starting on September 2 and grades 8, 10-12 are starting on June 3rd. Enjoy the summer!

Athletics Newsletter - June, 2025
Cony athletics are winding down for the 2025 Spring with several teams entering the play-offs. As we end this season, we look forward to our Summer sessions and prepping for Fall sports next school year. Below are important contacts and dates to answer some of your questions.
Summer Athletics
Each sport does their own thing after communicating with each other to avoid too many conflicts. Please contact the coach of the sport you are interested in.
Cony Summer Training w/ Coach TC
Monday-Thursday 8:00am-10:00am starting June 23 - Aug. 7
The first hour is focused on speed and agility training outside (usually on the turf), the second hour is in the gym/weight room with a focus on power and strength. This is lead by Trevor Coston, owner of AIM Performance and an 8th grade teacher here at Cony. This is year 4 and the program has been a huge benefit to those athletes that utilized it. There is no cost for our athletes as this program is sponsored by the Cony All-Sports Boosters.

Happy End-of-the-Year! In preparation for next year, here are some reminders from the Health Suite. We truly appreciate your cooperation in helping us help your student.
Please be sure that your student's immunizations are up-to-date for next year. Click link below for more information about what is required by law:

Please share any new Actions plans for your student for the next year from their primary care (Asthma, Diabetes, allergies, Seizures)
Please share your student's medications if they need to be administered at school (see below)
All parental requests must be accompanied by a written order from the student’s health care provider substantiating the fact that the administration of a particular medication during the school day is necessary for the student’s health and attendance in school. Such order must include:The student’s name; The name of the medication; The dose; The route of administration (e.g., tablets, liquid, drops); and Time intervals for administration (e.g., every four hours, before meals); Any special instructions; and The name of the prescribing health care provider.
Please know that it is the responsibility of the school nurse to clarify any medication order that they believe to be inappropriate or ambiguous. In accordance with Department of Education Rule Chapter 40 § 2(B), the school nurse may decline to administer a medication if they believe such administration would jeopardize student safety. In this case, the school nurse must notify the parent, the student’s health care provider and the school administrator (i.e., building principal or designated administrator).
Written parental permission requests/forms and health care provider orders must be renewed at least annually. Health care provider orders must be renewed whenever there are changes in the order.
Thank you so much for sharing your students with us. We have had a great year with them. Have a wonderful and relaxing summer.
