Hello to the amazing families of Cony,

Our HS Student Council is also sponsoring a Blood Drive on Tuesday, March 4th for students and staff. Students who are 17 or older can sign up on their own to give blood. Students who are 16 and older can give blood with a completed parental permission form.

Humanity Day, Wednesday, March 5th

We are hosting a Humanity Day on Wednesday, March 5th which will focus on Empathy and Telling Your Story. We have two 1/2 hour workshops for our students and then some opportunities to share and discuss in our homerooms. We are thrilled to offer this to our school. An email was sent to parents/guardians about this day.

Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey, Friday, March 7th

Every other year, Cony participates in the Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey. We have been participating for over 10 years. On Friday, March 7th students will participate in this survey in a homeroom time slot. An email was sent to parents/guardians about this survey.

Parent Teacher Conferences, Thursday, March 13th

We are hosting Parent teacher Conferences either by phone or virtually on Thursday, March 13th from 4:00-7:30. We sent out an email with the link to sign up for a 10 minute time slot with your student's teachers. We would love to see you, so please sign up.

Chizzle Wizzle Show and Ball

We are hosting our annual Chizzle Wizzle show March 18-21st. The week concludes with the Chizzle Wizzle ball for Cony students on March 22nd. Cony HS students must purchase their ball tickets by Friday, March 21st. No tickets are on sale at the door. If Cony students want to bring a guest, the guest must be approved prior to the dance. This must be completed by Thursday, March 20th

Instructional Rounds by Administrative Staff

Our Administrative team has been doing instructional rounds at each of the schools in the Augusta School Department. This has been an amazing opportunities to see the highly skilled educators in our schools. The administrative team will be at Cony Middle School on March 18th and Cony High School on April 29th

Building Committee

Hussey Elementary School was identified on the school construction list as needing to be replaced. The Augusta School Board formed a School Board Committee to start the work on figuring out what the city of Augusta would like to do with this school and students. The School Board hired an architecture company to guide the school through the process. They collected information about all of our schools and are discussing what kind of structure we would want as a district. If you are interested in this process, see the Augusta School Department website. In addition, offer your input to School Board members.

Budget Process

We are in the process of building the budget for the 2025-26 school year. Cony is presenting its budget on March 3rd to the School Board. There will be an opportunity for public input on March 10th. See the Augusta School Department website for more information.

Thank you for all of your continued support,

Kim Liscomb, Principal

Health Center

Hello Cony,

We've been seeing a lot of students with flu like systems.

As a reminder: It is our expectation that a student will be FEVER FREE for 24 HOURS prior to

returning to school (without the use of fever reducing medicine). We also ask that the student’s

symptoms (runny nose, cough, sore throat, etc.) are improving. These guidelines apply to the

common cold, influenza, COVID or any other contagion. Stay healthy!

Vision screening

The health center is still doing vision screening for our 7th and 9th graders! Reports of

screenings that need follow up by an eye doctor will be going out via mail as soon as the

screenings are complete. Please keep an eye out for them. If you do not receive a letter in the

mail, your student passed their vision screen and there were no worries!

Oral Health Program

Up next in the health center will be our School Oral Health Program in April. Did you know tooth

decay is the most common chronic childhood disease? Oral health problems can affect many

aspects of life, including self-confidence, our ability to eat and our ability to communicate. We

have a Registered Dental Hygienist who comes to the school and performs oral exams and

applies fluoride. Forms were sent home at the beginning of the year to register. If you did not fill

out a form and would like one. Please reach out to the health center for more information. In addition, please see the link below to learn more about the School Oral Health Program

School Based Health Clinic

Our school nurse can see all of our students. Did you know that we also have a nurse practitioner at Cony to service our students 15 hours per week? Please contact the health suite if you want to sign your students up for the School Based Health Clinic or have any questions.

The 134th Chizzle Wizzle: World Tour is set to take the stage Tuesday March 18 thru Friday, March 21.  Doors are open at 6:30 before the 7:00 show and tickets are $10 each.   Nearly 200 students have been involved with the production this year, rehearsing intensely since mid January, either on stage or behind the scenes.  Musical acts show some familiar faces, and in Olios there are many new faces that have joined this year; either dancing with a friend, acting in a skit - we even have an unexpected team performance sure to delight the audience.  The cast demonstrates a great mix of comedy, music and dance acts that represent various parts of the world.  The chorus continues to be small (however, larger than last year!) but sounds rich and full.  How do we get more students back in the music program; the chorus used to fill the stage!!

Behind the scenes the Set Committee, Make-Up Committee, Tech Crew and Stage Crew have met many times getting things prepared for the show.  The Ball Committee met early to pick the theme of the dance and those preparations are underway.  As always, folks can go to the Chizzle Wizzle Page on the Cony Website for general information, pictures, updates on ticket sales, links to order recordings and any special announcements.
