Hello to the amazing families of Cony,
It is hard to believe that we are in May already. We are on our last 7 weeks of school. Here are the happenings in May.
Testing
We are coming up on Spring Testing. AP testing is happening for the first two weeks of May. We have the NWEAs for Grades 7 & 8 on May 13th and 14th and testing for Grades 9 & 10 on May 20th.
Day of Caring for Middle and High School
Every year we partner with the United Way to participate in a Day of Caring. This is scheduled for April 30th for the High School and May 7th for the Middle School. During this day, student volunteer with their homeroom teachers to help make a difference in our community.
Concerts
Our Music Department is hosting their end of the year concerts. Please join us in the Viles auditorium at Cony for one or all of these concerts.
Cony Band Concert May 14th at 6:00pm
Cony Chorus Concert May 22nd at 6:00pm
Cony Jazz Concert May 28th at 6:00pm
Special Olympics
Our Special Olympics team is representing Cony at the Kennebec Spring Games Special Olympics program at Hall-Dale on May 14th and rain date on May 15th. We are so excited for our team and their peer helpers. Our school will send them off with our annual Special Olympics parade. The team will make their way through the hallway before they journey out to get on their bus.
International Potluck Dinner
We are hosting our annual International Potluck dinner on Tuesday, May 27th at 5:30 in the Cony Food Court. Come enjoy food from around the world with neighbors and friends. Bring your favorite dish to share.
6th Grade Transition
To transition our 6th graders into 7th graders, we are hosting a 6th grade Step Up Day on Tuesday, June 3rd. 6th graders will visit Cony to get a tour, eat lunch, see lockers, learn about extracurriculars, hear from our Music Department and learn about transitioning to Cony. We are hosting an evening presentation for 6th grade parents on Wednesday, June 5th at 6:00pm.
End of the School Year
The end of the school year is right around the corner. Here are some important dates for our 8th graders and 12th graders who are both making BIG transitions.
8th Grade Promotion
8th Grade Promotion is scheduled for Thursday, June 12th at 6:00pm with a dance following the ceremony sponsored by the Middle School Parent Group and Cony Admin.
Because of the limited space in the auditorium, each student will get 5 tickets. We will send the tickets out later in the school year. If you don't need all of the tickets, be sure to give them back. If you need more than 5 tickets, we will try to provide additional tickets from those who don't need all 5 tickets. Please know that we plan to LiveStream the event as well. We will send out a more detailed letter soon. Please contact Lauri Chambers regarding ticket needs. We will do this on a first-come, first served basis.
Senior Graduation
We are hosting Class Day on Friday, June 13th at 2:30 in the Cony auditorium. The Project Graduation committee is sponsoring a Car Parade after Class day. Cony Graduation is scheduled for Sunday, June 15th at 4:00pm at the Augusta Civic Center (seniors need to be there by 3:30). A group of parents have put together an amazing Project Graduation event after graduation for Cony graduates. Cony graduating seniors are invited to celebrate with their classmates from 8:00-4:00am at Cony on the night of graduation. GREAT job to the parent who have volunteered their time for this celebration.
Happy Spring!

Athletics Newsletter - May, 2025
We are off and running with spring teams as we enter May. MS Track was our last team to have their first competition on May 1st. With well over 250 athletes involved in baseball, softball, track, lacrosse, and tennis we have a quarter of the school on a team. Over the course of the month, we are hosting an event nearly every day. Come on out and cheer on the Rams!
Game schedules can be found here:

HIGH SCHOOL NEWS:
SENIORS:
As you start to settle into your plans for next year, please see your counselor to let them know what those plans will be.
For those students attending college:
Financial Aid Offers are starting to trickle in. Let us know if you need help navigating the offers. Or, if you prefer, FAME Maine is a great resource for helping with this if you need some extra guidance.
Scholarship applications are opening! Please check the Class of 2025 Google Classroom and arrange a meeting with your School Counselor if you have questions or need assistance.
MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS:
7th graders will choose their language choice for their 8th grade year soon. They will earn their first high school credits upon completion of their language they take during their 8th grade year.
Please encourage your child to eat breakfast.
Breakfast replenishes glucose stores in the body, providing energy for the day. Eating breakfast helps prevent blood sugar drops, which can lead to fatigue, irritability, stomach pain and nausea.
We have been seeing a lot of students with flu like systems.
As a reminder: It is our expectation that a student will be FEVER FREE for 24 HOURS prior to returning to school (without the use of fever reducing medicine). We also ask that the student’s symptoms (runny nose, cough, sore throat, etc.) are improving. These guidelines apply to the common cold, influenza, COVID or any other contagion. Stay healthy!
Vision screening
The health center is still doing vision screening for our 7th and 9th graders! Reports of screenings that need follow up by an eye doctor will be going out via mail as soon as the screenings are complete. Please keep an eye out for them. If you do not receive a letter in the mail, your student passed their vision screen and there were no concerns.
Dental Screening We will be sending out a copy via mail of your child’s dental services provided. Please keep an eye out for them.
Weather is getting nice which means watch for those TICKS!
