Cony has had an amazing start to our school year! It has been wonderful to see our students and staff again.
We have some important upcoming events that we want to ensure that you all are aware of:
Parent Teacher Conferences
Cony is hosting Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, Oct. 10th from 4:00-7:30. The conferences are either by phone or zoom. To sign up for a time to see your student's teacher, please visit our website. There is a direct link to sign up on the Cony page of augustaschools.org.
Aspirations Day
Cony hosts two aspirations days per year where we focus on helping students think about and prepare for their futures. Each grade level has a focus area on these days. The Fall Aspirations day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th. 7th graders participate in a 7th Up Biz program with the Chamber of Commerce. They visit local businesses to gain exposure to career options. 8th graders focus on "Who they want to be" with activities focused on themselves and their career interests. 9th graders rotate through sessions to give them exposure to career clusters and their day concludes with a panel of seniors who provide insight and guidance. Sophomores participate in workshops focused on college, military options and also listen to the senior panel. Juniors visit Husson or UMaine by homeroom. They will take buses with their homeroom advisors. Seniors have choices of workshops focused on their specific interest area. The senior day concludes with a presentation from the Guidance staff on preparing for life after Cony. Special thanks to the Guidance Department for all of their hard work on this great day.
NWEA Testing
The Department of Education requires each school in the state of complete the NWEA Through Year assessment for certain grades. We have scheduled NWEA testing for grades 7, 8, 9 and 10 on October 16 and October 17th. We utilize these results to make decisions about how to help the entire grade level, school and an individual student.
Attendance
It is imperative that students attend school to be successful students. We want your student at school! If you student needs to be absent, please contact our attendance office either by phone (620-8081) or email (jessica.wilson@augustaschools.org). Tardies need to follow the excused absence law as well.
Middle School Parent Group and Project Graduation group
We have many ways that parents/guardians can help support our school. To highlight two of those groups, the Middle School Parent Group meets monthly and focuses on raising money to support middle school programming. Project Graduation is a group of parents who work on fundraising to support the graduating class event on Graduation night. Both groups would love to have all parents/guardians join their groups.
We look forward to an amazing year with your student. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Health Suite
Happy Fall Cony students and families! This month in the health suite we are hosting our yearly dental clinic. Permission forms were sent out with the beginning of school paperwork. If you did not receive one or have changed your mind, please stop by or call the front office. Our clinic will be held on Wednesday, October 9 th . Services are being provided by Tooth Protectors. More information about this Lewiston based company can be found at toothprotectors.org.
Our licensed provider in the school-based health clinic will begin seeing students on September 30th. Hours may vary and will be posted on the Cony website. Please call the Cony health suite if you have any questions.
It looks like cold season came early this year! We have received many questions regarding when it is appropriate to send a student back to school post sickness. It is our expectation that a student will be
FEVER FREE for 24 HOURS prior to returning to school (without the use of fever reducing medicine). We also ask that the student’s symptoms (runny nose, cough, sore throat, etc.) are improving. These guidelines apply to the common cold, influenza, COVID or any other contagion. We will need your help to keep our community healthy!
