Hello to the amazing families of Cony,
Welcome back to school! We are thrilled to have students back at school and look forward to a great school year.
We have an Early Release Days Wednesday, Sept. 10th and Wednesday, September 24th this month. Students are dismissed at 10:45am.
Aspirations Day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7th. All grade levels will be doing aspirations events. We intentionally plan these important dates to help students figure out what they want to do with their life. Over the six years that we have students at Cony, students participate in 12 aspirations day. Each grade level has programming geared for their level. Aspirations Days count as a school day. We appreciate your support for these days.
Parent Teacher Conference-We are hosting Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 9th from 4:00-7:30. We sent out a survey this summer to families asking their opinions about the format of our parent teacher conferences. The survey asked 1 question and then asked for feedback. The question was what is your preferred format for Parent Teacher Conferences. We had 129 responses. Of the 129, 53.5% of respondents wanted in-person conferences and 46.5% wanted virtual conferences. The 2nd question asked for feedback. The feedback was clear that families don't like the gym format as we have done in the past. We had a lot of suggestions to utilize both formats for families. Based on the feedback, we will have both formats for families both in-person in classrooms or virtual/phone. We will continue to use PTCfast.com for sign ups. Parents/Guardians can state whether they want in-person conferences in teacher's classrooms or virtually through the phone or zoom in that document.
Please know that we have weekend food bags in the health suite that students can sign up for. This gives students an opportunity to get food for the weekend. We also have a Cony grocery in the main office. Students who need support for food have access to this venue. Also, if your student needs clothing, we have the Community Closet filled clothing for our students. Students should see the guidance or health suite for access to these programs.

Hello families,
As a reminder, we have a school nurse Ms. Roberts who is in the Health suite. Parents/Guardians can opt in for your student to be a part of our School Based Health Clinic. We have Nurse Practitioners who are at Cony for 15 hours per week.
In addition, please be sure that your student's immunizations are up-to-date for next year.
Please share any new Actions plans for your student for the next year from their primary care (Asthma, Diabetes, allergies, Seizures)
Please share your student's medications if they need to be administered at school (see below)
All parental requests must be accompanied by a written order from the student’s health care provider substantiating the fact that the administration of a particular medication during the school day is necessary for the student’s health and attendance in school. Such order must include:The student’s name; The name of the medication; The dose; The route of administration (e.g., tablets, liquid, drops); and Time intervals for administration (e.g., every four hours, before meals); Any special instructions; and The name of the prescribing health care provider.
Please know that it is the responsibility of the school nurse to clarify any medication order that they believe to be inappropriate or ambiguous. In accordance with Department of Education Rule Chapter 40 § 2(B), the school nurse may decline to administer a medication if they believe such administration would jeopardize student safety. In this case, the school nurse must notify the parent, the student’s health care provider and the school administrator (i.e., building principal or designated administrator).
Written parental permission requests/forms and health care provider orders must be renewed at least annually. Health care provider orders must be renewed whenever there are changes in the order.
Thank you so much for sharing your students with us.
We are looking forward to highlighting some of our outstanding students in the upcoming months!
