From the Principal's Desk |
Hello Farrington Families,
Throughout this month, we are focusing on the character trait of Gratitude. Gratitude means feeling thankful and appreciating the good things in our lives—family, friends, a warm home, or food on the table. It’s the happiness we feel for what makes life better, and we can show it in small ways, like saying “thank you” or writing a note to someone who has helped us. Our sixth graders have once again partnered with Ms. Shelly, our school counselor, to create a video to share with our school community. This will be posted on the augustaschools.org website and on the Farrington Elementary Facebook page.
As we look ahead, time is sure to fly—and before long, we’ll have snow on the ground full time! We have prepared Snow Day Road Maps for each grade level to send home in case we have a remote snow day. Families will be notified by 1:00 p.m. the day before if a potential remote day is being considered. (The Superintendent will make the final decision no later than 6:00 a.m. the morning of the possible remote day.) Remote School Day announcements will be shared on our website, social media, and through our alert system via phone and text. We will still have traditional snow days as well, which will be made up later in the year.
November is a time for reflection and togetherness, and an opportunity to appreciate our own families. I am truly thankful for the chance to work in the Farrington School community, and especially grateful for our caring staff and wonderful students.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Teresa Beaudoin, Principal

Farrington Family Fun Series presents: Harvest Breakfast!
On Monday 11/24 and Tuesday 11/25 our PTO will be hosting a free harvest breakfast to express our gratitude for our families and our community.
To prepare for the breakfast, we need families to sign up for a slot. We are asking that each child only bring two adults.
Time options:
Monday - 8:15-8:35, and 8:40-9:00
Tuesday - 8:15-8:35, and 8:40-9:00
If you choose the first slot, please bring your student with you to the breakfast instead of sending them on the bus.
This is an event that we started last year and now hope to have as a yearly tradition. Please join us!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We’re excited to announce a new reading challenge at Farrington — Reading for Pizza!
Each classroom will work together toward a shared reading goal:
Grades K–2: 1,000 minutes
Grades 3–6: 2,000 minutes
Students are encouraged to read at home and record their minutes in 5-minute increments. Please help your child keep track of their reading time, fill out their log, and add your initials.
When a class reaches its goal, every student will receive a coupon to Sam’s Italian Foods for one free kids’ meal!
We look forward to seeing our students read more, work together, and earn a delicious reward!

Each year Farrington hosts a Holiday Shop where students can choose gently used or new items to gift to their family members. We will also be looking for donations! If you have any items you would like to donate to the Holiday Shop, we will be collecting items in the school lobby each day until Dec. 15. The students all love being able to bring you a surprise gift.
This year's dates are Dec. 15 and 16. We will be looking for volunteers to help with gift wrapping throughout the day. If you are interested in helping, please reach out to the school

We have been working hard on our attendance this year through out Attendance Matters incentive and we are so impressed with how often are students are here at school with us! our school wide goal is 94% , which means only 18 students of our 287 can be absent. In October our attendance was 93.39%, so close to our goal! We are hoping to reach 94% in November!
As a school when we meet our goal, we have different rewards.
94% - Attendance Wheel and prize wall
95% - Race to Recess point for all grade levels
96% - Dance Party with Mrs. Beaudoin
97% - Treat for every student!
Ask your student what their favorite attendance award is!

Dear Parents and Students,
With winter weather here, storms can be unpredictable. Having dry, extra clothes at school helps keep students comfortable.
How You Can Help: • Pack a weather-appropriate change of clothes (including socks and gloves). • Place items in a labeled, waterproof bag. • Update clothing as your child grows or as weather changes.
We also want to remind families of our illness guidelines:
Keep your child home if they have: • A fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher (return after 24 hours fever-free without medication) • A persistent cough, sore throat, or breathing difficulties • Vomiting or diarrhea (return after 24 hours symptom-free) • A diagnosed contagious illness—follow healthcare provider guidance
Students may return to school when: • They are fever-free for 24 hours without medication • Major symptoms have resolved • A doctor’s note is provided if required
Thank you for helping keep our school community safe and healthy. Stay warm!

Bus changes go through the dispatcher at 207-626-5569 and need 24 hours notice. Dismissal Changes go through the front office or you can send in a note or leave a message. We will not make a change without hearing from you. Changes must be made before 2:00 to ensure we an orderly dismissal.
Parent pickups and drop offs are in the back of the school. We now have a gate to be sure no one drives on the playground during the day. The gate opens at 7:45 am and closes at 8:30. Arrivals after 8:30 are in the front of our school. In the afternoon, the gate is unlocked at 2:20 pm. Overall, pick up is from 2;40-3:00 pm.
On Early Release Days, pickup is from 11:45 -12:05 pm.
Is your child going to miss school days due to a family trip? Please call the office and fill out the Family Trip form to get the days excused.
Please label your child's clothing with their name. We have so many things left behind during the year!
