From the Principal's Desk!
The leaves are changing and our students have settled into the routines, expectations and challenges of a new grade level! October is a busy month for Farrington. As you look through our newsletter, you will find many activities.
Our PTO has grown and is planning monthly Farrington Family events. For October, we have a favorite - Kooky Spooky! The next PTO meeting is November 7 at 6 pm. All are welcome to join.
Thank you to all who attended Conferences. If you missed it, you can always reach out to the teachers at any point. We love talking about our students and their successes!
Farrington Spotlight on PBIS
Our School is celebrating all the positive things that Farrington Students are doing! Ask your students about Student of the Month, Golden Awards, and our new Bracelets incentive!
We are also focusing on a specific character trait each month. September was responsible and October is respectful. Our school counselor coordinates her SEL lessons to focus on the trait and we have added an additional assembly to reinforce the concept. This is part of our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports system.
Join us for Kooky Spooky on October 24th from 5:30-6:30! Come dressed in costume for our "Treat Street" trick or treating. We will have a costume contest too!
October 31st is Halloween!
Students can wear black and orange! No costumes please.
Please consider sending in some candy to feed our Monster for our Kooky Spooky Treat Street!
Scholastic Book Fair
The Book Fair will be at Farrington the week of October 21st! Classes have signed up for their slots. The Book Fair will also be open during Kooky Spooky on Thursday. Families can send in money or set up an online account for your students. Packets were sent home with more information.
International Potluck Dinner
Wednesday, October 23rd, 5:30 pm at Cony in the Food Court
Come enjoy food from around the world with neighbors and friends. Bring your favorite dish to share.
A Note From Nurse Bobbie
With cold season approaching here are some key reminders to stay healthy this fall:
wash your hands for 20 seconds with warm water and soap
sneeze and cough into your elbow
limit how much candy you eat
when you are sick, please stay home
continue to check for ticks after playing outside
Dean's Memo
Attendance Matters! Arriving to school on time and staying for the whole day has a great impact on your student. It allows your student to learn new topics without falling behind, improve their social skills, and receive services that they need.
In September our student attendance rate was 93%, and we are currently at 92% in October. As a school we would like to set a goal of 94% and build from there!
