April 2025
Principals Corner

Dear Families,

April has arrived, bringing the promise of spring and new opportunities for growth. Our students have been working diligently, and we are so proud of their progress and accomplishments so far this year.

We are excited to announce our Family Game Night on April 10th, hosted by our incredible Title I staff. This will be a fantastic opportunity for families to come together and enjoy an evening filled with fun, games, and community spirit. We hope to see you there!

With April Break approaching, from April 18th to April 25th, I encourage everyone to take this time to relax and recharge. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday, April 28th, as we continue working towards a successful conclusion to the school year.

A quick reminder that state testing begins on May 1st. Please ensure that your child gets plenty of rest and is ready to do their best. We are here to support them every step of the way.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for being an integral part of our school community. It is through our collective efforts—families, staff, and students—that we are able to create an environment where each student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Together, we foster a learning environment that nurtures both academic and personal growth, and I am so grateful for the strong partnership we have with each of you. Let’s continue to work together to make the remainder of this school year a successful and fulfilling experience for all of our students.

Wishing you all a wonderful April!

Warm regards,
Tina Brackley McDonald

Grades 2 and 3: Students are studying the work of abstract artist Piet Mondrian and how he used bold primary colors and straight-lines to make artistic statements!

Grades 4 and 5: It’s time to play a game of “roll-a-Picasso” and see just how weird students can get in order to create a Picasso-style portrait!

Grade 6: As the end of the year approaches, it is a great opportunity for these budding-artists to practice reflection through collage; they are using words and pictures to fill in a self-silhouette.

Attendance Matters

As we enter the final two and half months of the school year, we want to stress the importance of finishing strong. Every school day counts, and maintaining excellent attendance during these last weeks is essential for students to wrap up the year successfully.

Why Attendance Matters Now More Than Ever:

  • Finish the Year Strong: The last two months are critical for reinforcing key concepts and preparing for final assessments. Missing school now can make it harder for students to stay on track and meet academic goals.

  • Maximize Learning: Students who are present in class can fully participate in lessons, discussions, and hands-on projects, all of which help solidify their understanding and mastery of the material.

  • Develop Lifelong Habits: Regular attendance during these final months helps students develop responsibility, discipline, and good work habits that will benefit them in the years ahead—whether in school or in the workforce.

Let's make the most of these last two months to ensure every student has the chance to finish the year on a high note. Together, we can help everyone stay focused and finish strong!
