December 2025

Dear Hussey Families,

I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your continued partnership and support. This time of year brings excitement, reflection, and many opportunities to celebrate the hard work our students and staff have put in over the past few months. I am incredibly proud of the growth we are seeing in classrooms, the kindness our students show one another, and the dedication our staff brings to school each and every day.

December has been a busy month at Hussey, and we have had many activities and learning experiences planned for students. As always, our focus remains on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive. I encourage you to stay connected by reading classroom updates, checking your child’s folder, and reaching out if you ever have questions or need support.

Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. Your involvement, encouragement, and collaboration truly make a difference. I hope this season brings joy, rest, and quality time with family. We look forward to finishing the calendar year strong and entering 2026 with even greater momentum.

Warmly,
Tina McDonald
Principal, Hussey School

As we move through the month of December, I want to highlight and celebrate the kindness we see from our students each day. Whether it’s helping a classmate, offering a warm greeting, or showing patience during a challenging moment, our students continue to remind us what it means to care for one another.

At Hussey, we believe that every member of our community deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. These values guide how we learn, how we solve problems, and how we support each other. This month, as part of our focus on kindness, we are encouraging students to look for small ways to make a big difference offering encouraging words, including others, showing empathy, and being responsible members of our school.

Thank you for reinforcing these important messages at home. When school and family partner together, our students grow not only academically but also as compassionate, respectful individuals. We are proud of the culture our Hussey students are helping to build every day.

Attendances

As we move into the winter months, I want to take a moment to highlight the importance of consistent school attendance. Every day in school matters. When students are present, they build strong routines, stay connected with their classmates, and engage in the learning experiences that help them grow academically and socially.

We understand that illnesses and unavoidable circumstances happen, and when they do, please continue to communicate with the school so we can support your child. However, whenever possible, we encourage families to prioritize being on time and in school each day. Even a few missed days can add up and make it harder for students to stay on track.

Thank you for your partnership in helping our students develop good habits, strong attendance, and a sense of responsibility. Together, we can ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and succeed.

As we move into the colder months, please make sure your child comes to school each day prepared for outdoor play. Students go outside whenever the weather allows, so warm winter gear such as coats, hats, gloves, boots, and snow pants is essential.

We also ask that students bring a pair of shoes to wear inside the classroom, as winter boots can be wet and uncomfortable during the school day. Additionally, it can be helpful to keep a change of clothes in your child’s backpack in case of snow mishaps or other unexpected needs.

Thank you for helping us keep students safe, comfortable, and ready to learn throughout the winter season!
