March 2025
Principals Corner

Dear Hussey Families,

As we enter the month of March, I want to take a moment to reflect on all the wonderful things happening here at Hussey Elementary. The first half of the school year has been filled with growth, learning, and excitement. It has been a joy to see our students thrive both academically and personally.

In celebration of Read Across America, we will be hosting a variety of fun and engaging activities during the first week of March. These events are designed to inspire our students and foster a lifelong love of reading. From our Read-a-thon to special guest readers and classroom reading challenges, there will be plenty of opportunities for students to immerse themselves in the magic of books. In addition, Thursday night March 6th will be Story Night at 6:30 pm, come in pj's for a bedtime story. Be sure to check our school calendar for all the details!

I’m also excited to announce that our wonderful PTO will be bringing the Book Fair to Hussey Elementary during the week of March 17th. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to explore new books and find stories they’ll love. We encourage families to visit the Book Fair and support our school’s reading initiatives. It’s always an exciting event, and we can’t wait to see our students’ enthusiasm for reading continue to grow!

March is also a time when we begin to prepare for the end of the school year. Parent-teacher conferences will take place in the coming weeks, and I encourage all parents and guardians to attend. These meetings are a great opportunity to discuss your child's progress and collaborate with teachers on how we can continue to support their growth.

As always, thank you for being such an integral part of our school community. Together, we make Hussey Elementary a great place for children to learn and grow. I look forward to a productive and enjoyable month ahead!

Warm regards,
Tina Brackley McDonald

Attendance Matters

March Attendance Matters at Hussey Elementary!

At Hussey Elementary School, we continue to prioritize your child's success. As we enter March, we want to emphasize the importance of consistent attendance and punctuality for student achievement. Here are a few reminders to help our students stay on track:

✅ Goal for March: Let’s aim for 95% or higher attendance this month as a school!
⏰ Be on Time: Every minute counts—being punctual helps students start their day right and avoid missing valuable lessons.
💡 Spring Into Healthy Habits: Encourage proper rest, healthy breakfasts, and morning routines so students are ready for success!
📞 Absences: If your child needs to miss school due to illness, please notify the office promptly.📌 Special Attendance Challenge Event: "We Come to School on Wednesdays" On Wednesdays in March, we will be hosting a fun and engaging activity from 8:30-9:00 AM to help students get excited about coming to school on time!

Let’s make March a month full of engaged learning and great attendance. Thank you for your continued support!.

Kindergarten

For parents who will be registering a kindergarten student for the 2025-2026 school year, please call Hussey at 626-2461.  To enroll in Kindergarten, your child must live in the Hussey neighbor and have turned five years old by 10/15/20.  Mrs. Dyer or Mrs. Sabean, our school secretaries, will take your name and contact information to set up screenings in May.
