Dear Families and Friends,

November is a wonderful time to reflect on all that we’re thankful for in our school community. As the seasons change, I am filled with gratitude for our students’ enthusiasm for learning, our staff’s dedication, and our families’ ongoing support. Together, we continue to make our school a place where every child feels valued and inspired to grow.

This month, we’re especially excited for Family Movie Night on Thursday, November 13th! It’s always a joy to see our gym filled with families laughing, relaxing, and spending time together. Events like this remind us how strong our school community truly is. We hope to see you there for an evening of fun, friendship, and popcorn! Bla

As winter approaches, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for colder temperatures. Warm coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots are essential for outdoor recess and walking to and from school. Layers are a great way to stay comfortable throughout the day, especially in classrooms that can be warmer than the outdoors. Dressing in weather-appropriate clothing helps keep our students safe, healthy, and able to enjoy outdoor activities even on chilly days.

As we approach the Thanksgiving season, may we all take a moment to appreciate the many ways we learn from and support one another. Thank you for being such an important part of our school family.

With gratitude,

Tina McDonald

Last week, our principal had the pleasure of visiting every classroom to talk with students about the importance of kindness. These discussions focused on how our words and actions impact others and the power each student has to make our school a more positive and welcoming place.

In addition, a parent letter was sent home to share ways families can reinforce that words matter. Together, with support from both school and family, we are helping students practice empathy, respect, and thoughtfulness every day.

We are also excited to announce the formation of a Kindness Committee with our 5th and 6th graders! This student-led group will promote kindness throughout the school and continue conversations about how words matter, inspiring all of us to be more mindful and caring in our interactions.

Also be on the lookout for our 12 Days of Kindness coming in December. We have done things in the past such as collecting pet food, Socks for Remy and a food drive. This year we are looking to add collecting things for the warming center in Augusta.

Attendances

We are thrilled to share some exciting news about our school’s attendance! Thanks to your support and your children’s dedication, our students achieved an amazing 97% attendance rate in September and October. This shows how much our families value learning and the importance of being at school every day, thank you!

As we celebrate this success, we’re also focusing on an important goal for the year: reducing chronic absenteeism by 10%. Chronic absenteeism means missing 10% or more of the school year, about 18 days or more, whether absences are excused or unexcused. Regular attendance helps students build good habits, stay connected with friends and teachers, and make steady academic progress.

With your continued partnership, we know we can reach our goal and keep our students on the path to success. Every day counts!

Thank you for all you do to make attendance a priority.
