Blossoming Minds: Celebrating Learning, Growth, and Springtime Joy!
april

Spring is a time of growth, renewal, and discovery, and we are excited to see our students thriving both academically and personally. April is filled with opportunities for learning, exploration, and fun, and we encourage students to embrace challenges with a growth mindset—believing that with effort, practice, and perseverance, they can achieve great things!

With warmer weather arriving, we also encourage students to spend more time outdoors, enjoying fresh air and physical activity. Whether it’s playing outside, going for a nature walk, or engaging in outdoor learning activities, movement and exploration help support healthy minds and bodies.

All About 6th Grade: Exciting News & Updates!

The year is winding down quickly and 6th graders are starting to think more and more about transitioning to Cony. Before the year ends, we have a few more fun activities planned. Mr. Dennett is helping teach a new 3D printing unit in science. The students will use a CAD program to design something and then have it printed on our new 3D printer! We also started our DARE lessons with Officer Doody that will help them be ready to face some new challenges in middle school. In June, they will spend a day at Cony. They will get a tour and meet some of the staff there. We will also end the year with a special 6th grade celebration to send them off on their new adventure!

5th & 6th Grade Spring Band Concert

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. the 5th and 6th grade band students from all four Augusta Elementary Schools will present their annual district concert at Cony HS in the auditorium.

Dress for this performance is black from head to toe. The outfit does not need to be fancy or expensive. Goodwill or other thrift shop, black clothing items are fine. The idea is to create a professional, uniform effect. If students are wearing skirts or dresses, please make sure they have black leggings. (Let us know if you will need help providing the concert attire for your child.)Although we do realize that many students are involved in other evening activities and sports events, this is our BIG SHOW, so it is VERY important that they attend the concert! If you are unable to provide transportation for your child to attend, we ask that you make arrangements ahead of time to find them a ride with a relative, friend, or fellow band student’s parent. The schedule for April 30th is as follows:

6th grade band students need to be at Cony at 4:45 p.m. for rehearsal.

5th grade band students need to be at Cony at 5:30 p.m.

When you bring your child to Cony at their scheduled time, we ask that you, or another adult, remain at Cony for the duration of the concert. The 6th graders will rehearse then will sit in the auditorium to listen to the 5th grade band play. After that, 5th graders will exit the stage and the 6th graders will take their seats on the stage to present their portion of the concert. They will be playing just a few pieces and we would like the 5th graders to remain at the concert to hear them.

Notes from Nurse Abby

 Medication Drop-Off Appointments

Dear Parents and Guardians,

To ensure the safety and proper handling of all student medications, we kindly ask that all scheduled medications be dropped off by appointment only with the school nurse. This helps us:
Review medication orders and ensure they align with school policy
Verify proper labeling and documentation
Ensure that the school nurse will be available during time of drop-off

  1. How to Schedule an Appointment:
Call or email Nurse Abby to arrange a convenient time

  2. (abigail.folsom@augustaschools.org; (207) 626-2483)

  3. Bring medications in their original labeled container

  4. Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed before your visit

Your cooperation helps us provide the best care for your child while keeping all students safe.

Thank you for your support!

Lice Prevention Tips:

Check your child’s hair regularly for lice or nits (tiny white eggs).
Encourage kids to avoid head-to-head contact during play and selfies.
Remind children not to share hats, brushes, hair accessories, or headphones.
Tie back long hair or keep it in braids to reduce the chance of lice spreading.
Wash and dry bedding, coats, and stuffed animals on high heat if lice are found.

If you discover lice, please contact the school nurse for guidance on treatment.

This will also help Nurse Abby notify other families whose children may have been exposed in the classroom. Together, we can keep our school community healthy and itch-free!
