Small Acts, Big Hearts: Celebrating Kindness Together
feb

This month, we’re excited to focus on the theme of kindness. From classrooms to homes to our broader community, small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect of positivity and connection. Being kind is one of our Core Values at Lincoln School! Teachers will be leading discussions about empathy, gratitude and inclusion as part of their Morning Meetings.

What It Means to Be a Kind- Being a kind citizen means taking responsibility for creating a positive environment in our communities. Here are some ways we’re teaching students to practice citizenship:

  • Respecting Others: Kind citizens listen to others' ideas, treat everyone with respect, and celebrate differences.

  • Helping Where We Can: Offering a helping hand to those in need, whether it’s assisting a classmate or volunteering in the school community, strengthens bonds and builds trust.

  • Taking Care of Shared Spaces: Keeping our school clean and treating common areas with care shows pride in our school community.

  • Standing Up for What’s Right: Kindness includes speaking up against bullying or unfair treatment and supporting peers in positive ways.

Encourage your child to think about how their actions contribute to the well-being of their school, home, and neighborhood

Let’s work together to make kindness a daily habit for all!

Educationally Yours,

Mrs. Gauthier

Read to ME Challenge

The Department of Education is promoting their Read to ME challenge, which promotes reading aloud to your child for 15 minutes a day. Reading aloud to children daily has benefits for students' academic progress, such as language and literacy development and social and communication skills. It helps students to learn and value books along with sparking their imagination and curiosity. It can also help to develop students' brains, ability to focus, and concentrate. Make sure to carve out some time this vacation to enjoy a good book with your child!
