🍂Falling into a Fantastic School Year🍎
9/25

The start of a new school year is always an exciting time, and September brings with it a fresh sense of possibility and energy throughout our school. Walking through the halls, I see eager students ready to learn, dedicated teachers building strong classroom communities, and families working alongside us to make this year a success.

Our focus this month is on building routines, fostering positive relationships, and creating a strong foundation for learning. When students feel safe, connected, and supported, they thrive both academically and socially. Together, we will continue to nurture a school environment where every child feels valued and inspired to do their best.

Thank you for your partnership as we begin this new journey. Your involvement—whether through encouraging your child at home, attending school events, or simply sharing a kind word—makes a meaningful difference. I look forward to a wonderful year of growth, discovery, and celebration with all of you.

Notes from Nurse Abby

Happy New School Year!

As we prepare for a healthy and successful school year, here are a few important reminders:

Medication Drop-Off
If your child needs medication during the school day, please call (207)626-2483) or email (abigail.folsom@augustaschools.org) nurse  to make an appointment to drop off the medication and complete the Permission to Administer Medication form. For safety reasons, all medications must be brought in by a parent or guardian—students should not carry them to school.

Extra Change of Clothes
Accidents, spills, and muddy playground adventures happen! Please pack a labeled change of clothes in your child’s backpack, regardless of grade level.

Stay Hydrated
Be sure your child comes to school each day with a refillable water bottle. Staying hydrated helps kids focus and wards of headaches, dizziness, bellyaches, and other ailments associated with dehydration.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students healthy, comfortable, and ready to learn!

Warmly,
Nurse Abby

School Bus Expectations

We are focusing on our bus expectations to start our school year. Please review the bus expectations in our student handbook linked to the Augusta Schools website with your students at home to help reinforce a safe ride to and from school. We appreciate your support in advance.

Morning Drop-Off & Afternoon Dismissal

Due to coverage, students should not be dropped off before 8:00 a.m. When dropping off children, parents should not utilize the bus loop due to the buses coming and going. Students will head directly to their classrooms through the assigned doors.

In the afternoon, we are asking families to find a place to park and then sign out their students with a staff member located in the Outdoor Classroom. We will check in with families on who they are picking up. Please have ID available until we get to know you. If someone other than the parent is picking up, please make sure the office is informed of this. Our walkers will be dismissed at 2:40, followed by bus students. We will dismiss parent pick up in between our bus announcements. The end of day can get pretty busy and we want to ensure a safe ride home for your child. Please make sure that any end of day changes are given to the office before 1:00 p.m.

Lincoln School PTC

Hello! Happy start to the new school year. The Lincoln Elementary Parent Teacher Club is starting back up with our first meeting via Zoom on Monday, September 22nd at 6pm. Join us to talk about upcoming community events, extra fun days (like Halloween!), and opportunities to volunteer in our school community. We meet monthly for 30-60 minutes and we’d love to have your input! This is a great way to keep-to-date on what’s going on at Lincoln and to get to know school staff and other parents! If you have any questions or would like to be added to the list, please email Heather Gauthier (hgauthier@augustaschools.org) or Stephanie Sienkiewicz (smsienkiewicz@gmail.com). Hope to see you at the next meeting!
