Principal's Report

Hello to the RAMTASTIC families of Cony,

It is hard to believe that it is the end of the 2025-2026 school year.  It has been an amazing year and we appreciate you sharing your student with us.  We look forward to next year!  We extend our best wishes to our seniors and their families as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.  Remember, once a RAM, always a RAM.

End of the School Year

The end of the school year is right around the corner. Here are some important dates for our 8th graders and 12th graders who are both making BIG transitions.

8th Grade Promotion is scheduled for Thursday, June 11th at 5:30pm with a dance following the ceremony sponsored by the Middle School Parent Group and Cony Admin. Because of the limited space in the auditorium, each student will get 5 tickets. If you don't need all of the tickets, be sure to give them back to the office. If you need more than 5 tickets, we will try to provide additional tickets from those who don't need all 5 tickets. Please know that we plan to LiveStream the event as well.

Important Dates for Next School Year:

The 2026-2027 school calendar can be found on our website augustaschools.org.  The first day for Grades 7 and 9 is August 31st.  We have only grades 7 and 9 to provide an orientation to these grades with their new transition.  All Cony students come on September 1st.  We are hosting a parent information night for Grade 7 students on Wednesday, August 26th at 6:00pm.

Communication Strategies with families

Don't forget we contact families in a number of ways.  We post on our augustaschools.org website and we also have Facebook and Instagram accounts.   In addition, we send out emails to our families.  If you are not receiving our emails, please contact us to add your email.  We hope our newsletters also provide information to our students and families.

Athletic Update

June Athletics Newsletter

Spring Sports are coming to a close.  We wish our student athletes good luck in their end of season competitions.

Lots of our Cony sports have a summer program.  If you have any questions, please contact TJ Maines and he will get your student in touch with the coach.  In addition, the Sports Boosters program hires Trevor Coston to run a sports conditioning workout in the summer.  All Cony student athletes are invited to attend this conditioning.

Sportsmanship is essential for both middle and high school players and fans because it builds respect, character, and a positive school culture. For athletes, it means playing with integrity, following the rules, and showing respect to teammates, opponents, and officials whether they win or lose. For fans, it means cheering with enthusiasm while also demonstrating respect and self-control. Good sportsmanship helps create an environment where everyone can enjoy the game, learn from competition, and represent their school with pride.  We truly appreciate the fans of Cony Middle and High School and thank you for all of your support!

Guidance News

Hello from the Guidance Office!

The end of the year is right around the corner.  We are working on creating schedules for next year.  Students will receive their official schedules around August 15th.  If your student is taking an honors, AP, or Dual Enrollment class, they will have summer homework.  Please see our link on our Cony Middle and High School page on augustaschools.org for the information about the assignment.

We are moving to a new schedule next year.  Instead of a 4X4 schedule at the high school, we will have a rotating block schedule (Red and White days).  We will help students transition to this new schedule in the fall.  Please look for more information to come.

HIGH SCHOOL NEWS:

Health Center

Health Suite News!

Don't forget that we received a grant to have a School Based Health Clinic at Cony.  We have a Nurse Practitioner and Physician's Assistant who visit Cony for 15 hours per week.  Parents need to provide permission for students to be a part of the School Based Health Center.  Call us if you have questions.

Immunizations Required for 7th grade entry:
• All previously required vaccines
• 1 Tdap
• 1 Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4)

MEDICATION PICK UP

Reminding all families that have students with medications at school:  All medications will need to be picked up by a parent no later than the morning of the last day of school June 12, 2026. Medications can not stay in school over the summer and can not be sent home with students. Please mark your calendars for this very important date.

Summer Safety Tips:

• Stay active + stay hydrated. A common guideline is to drink 1/2 to 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight, plus an additional 12 ounces for every 30 minutes of exercise or heat exposure.

•  Sun protection- Make sure to wear sun protection, and always wear sunscreen when outside.

• Ticks are everywhere. Make sure to check yourself after outdoor activities. If you find a tick, cleanse the area with soap and water, and use tweezers or a tick remover to go as close to the skin as possible and pull upward. Avoid twisting the tick, as the head can stay lodged beneath the skin's surface. Watch out for any rashes, and contact your PCP if one occurs
